Ever since I started taking strength training seriously, I was bitten by the Iron Bug. Then it burrowed under my skin and laid eggs in my heart. Now those eggs are hatching and I... the feeling is indescribable.

    Hi John!

Wanted to contact you, but can’t find a contact link on your blog.

Anyway, just wanted to say that your journey and blog really resonates with mine (both journey and blog style!).

I’m also 5′ 4″ and fell in love with strength training in 2010 just before my 30th birthday.

Like you, I also started with Starting Strength, and my routine has continue to be based on compound lifts.

The funny thing about us is that I’m more like Bruce Lee! I started my journey skinny-fat and when I stripped all the fat off, I was 110lb! (50 kg).

After 8 years of consistent training, I’m ~130 lb (60 kg), but nowhere near as ripped as Bruce. I’ve also set local powerlifting records (my PBs are 143 kg squat, 173 kg deadlift and 105 kg bench).

Initially, I aspired to the likes of Arnie, but soon realised I’m just not built that way! So I’m going more for the Bruce Lee look than Bolo!

Anyway, just wanted to reach out and say hi!

    Best wishes,

    James
