Shoulder Pain

Shoulder Pain...Again!

So this shoulder pain of mine has affected my bench press. I was able to do 2 reps with 295lbs a couple of weeks ago, but this week I couldn't even get a single rep. Not good.

My solution to deal this this shoulder problem:

  1. Thorough shoulder warm up before training
  2. Ibuprofen before training
  3. Face pulls twice a week for my rotator cuff
  4. I'm also tinkering with the idea of substituting dips and/or incline dumbbell bench press instead of barbell bench press during recovery days.

We'll see how it goes...

Notes

  • Sharp shoulder pain in both shoulders. Began feeling it ever since I woke up. Couldn't even drive the bar up for the bench press. Next time take ibuprofen before training.
  • Felt some strange sensation on my lower right abdomen during squats, which was amplified during the bench press attempt. Skipped deadlifts just in case it was a hernia or something serious.

Squat

Over Head Press

  • 205lbs: 2,2
    • Lost balance on the first set, 2nd rep. Had to take a step back to regain my balance. Felt a sharp pain on the left side of my neck after.
    • Tried for a 3rd rep on the last set. Only made it up a few inches.

Deadlift

  • 435lbs: 3,3
    • Easy

Squat

  • 380lbs: 1,1,1,1,1
  • First 2 sets - failed on 2nd rep. Decided to do 3 more singles.

Bench Press

  • 295lbs: 2,1
  • Needed assistance on the 2nd rep during the 2nd set

Deadlift

  • 430lbs: 3,3

Squat

  • 375lbs: 3,1

Over Head Press

  • 205lbs: 2

Deadlift

Notes

  • I just realized I lose my sense of hearing at the top of the rep during deadlifts (at least today). I'm not sure why. Maybe because of the valsava maneuver? Not entirely sure.
